The beautifully cared-for château, dating from 1850 and built in the Belle Epoque and Art Nouveau styles, is set in more than seven hectares of hillside parkland. Mature trees such as cedars and pines shade rose arbours, pergolas, vineyard and a swimming pool, and the lazy river meanders its way from La Roche Posay towards Lesigny at the bottom of the estate.

Why is La Roche Posay water so good?
Recognized as being of public utility by the French government in 1869, La Roche-Posay became the first spa in Europe entirely dedicated to dermatological ailments. More than 8,000 people come each year for the healing properties of the waters.
The waters are a result of slow filtering through chalk beds. The hot springs at La Roche-Posay percolate from a source at a depth of 30 to 80 meters.
Elements in the water are responsible for the spring’s dermatological, anti-inflammatory healing and soothing properties. The water is lightly mineralised and contains calcium bicarbonate, silicates and selenium. The temperature at the surface is 13°C. No specific taste it is very pleasant to drink
Present in significant quantities in the waters at La Roche-Posay (40 to 60 µg/l), selenium is a trace element that has been known to be invaluable to life since 1970. It is a constituent of many enzymes and proteins and serves a vital role in regulating cellular metabolism.
